A few days ago a friend of mine had the wonderful idea to create some homemade luxuries for our bathrooms. Both wanting to be a little more ecological, but also creative, this seemed like a fun activity. And it was!
We made both a foot scrub and a face scrub with all natural ingredients, which makes it an ideal gift for your ecological friends, minimalists, beauty addicts with sensitive skins, for the ones wrapped up in a no-waste challenge,… + it’s so cheap and easy!
The only hard thing about these kind of DIY-projects, is choosing a recipe from the thousands of options you can find online. I’ll give you one tip: go around your house and see what things you already have in your pantry. Extra points if you use the stuff you’ve been hanging on to just because you don’t want to throw it out. Search Pinterest for keywords such as honey, sea salt, coffee, citrus peels and add the word scrub or cream to it. Et voilà, you’re ready to begin!
We found our recipes on Elle.be , and made the Lemon Coffee Scrub for our faces and the Rosemary Peppermint Scrub for our feet. Check out our cute results!
Put your homemade goods in a pretty (recycled) glass jar. I chose one with a gold lid to make it extra special. To really make it pop, add a fun ribbon, a label or maybe even a sample of an ingredient. I really like this combo of the green rosemary and the bright red bow. I can’t wait to put this jar under the Christmas tree!
Have you DIY’d gifts before, or are you planning to do so? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
